Welcome to the post-Katrina version of Dawnsinger . . . my reflections on journalism, society and random rants. I’ve been in hiatus for nearly four months, consumed by the hurricane, our rescue and exile, and the return to the devastation that is the greater New Orleans region.

Naturally, the focus is likely now to be more on the aftermath of the storm - media coverage, politics, the human story. As I have time, I’ll review some of the highlights of the past four months, from the drama of the storm to a surreal visit to Hollywood to schmooze with a famous hottie. But the work is still crushing as we dig New Orleans from the rubble, so you’ll see the most current news on NOLA.com, and on my Voices of Katrina (the weblog formerly known as my Bourbon Street Journal).
